Open since 2022, the place to learn and experience the heritage of salmon
Located on the second floor of the Shibetsu Salmon Museum, this is the place to feel the “heritage of salmon.” The facility serves as the gateway to experience the story of the heritage of salmon. The exhibition space introduces a variety of cultural artifacts which express our Japan Heritage.
Among the pieces on show are a famous map created by Matsuura Takeshiro, an officer of the shogun who explored this region, and a folding screen painting depicting Shibetsu as it looked in old times.
A touch panel located nearby explains their imagery in depth.
You can also learn more about the history, culture, and industry all at once using the monitor and touch panel.
With a timeline, salmon artwork, and more, it is loaded with things to see.
From historical sites to activities, cultural artifacts to foods, the shared story of salmon and humans takes many forms. Why not start your journey of salmon exploration here?
